An Evening with Melina & Detlef

Theme for the evening:  
Rhythmic & Asynchronous Caminatas

This is a fun class about our signature moves, that will challenge dancers of all levels. We will develop the content starting out with simple variations and then go on to more complex ones, so that every couple can decide how much they want to take in.
In part one of the class, we will cover rhythmic walking variations that play with changing lanes and that we will apply to different rhythms in Tango and Milonga.

In the second half of the class, we‘ll explore Caminatas in which leader and follower walk with different speeds in order to express different melodic lines. We will then make it even more challenging by inverting or turning our movements, which allows us to navigate on the dance floor and move in the smallest spaces.


Melina and Detlef - stylistically they are at home in the traditional tango de salon as it is danced in Buenos Aires which they interpret in a very personal and modern way. Their dance captivates through its intimate embrace, playful musicality and a sensual interplay of man and woman without cliché or superficial effect. Thus, their tango is newly created in every moment, expressing not just the music but genuine feeling.
